Search Engine Rankings (SEO)

Do you have your own website or blog? Do you write your own unique content for it? If you don't write your own unique content, then you should. Don't waste money on "Article Spinning," "Private Label Articles," or other similar options. Granted, some people might try that route, but the best way to get the Search Engines to love you is to just provide relevant unique content.

The more relevant unique content you have on a blog or website means the more search engines will like your website. You could mix in article with reprint rights or private label articles, but they will never be as good as writing unique content.

You could also hire a ghostwriter, but make sure you can trust them to only produce original content. Some ghostwriter might just use rehashed information, which won't help at all.

Have you ever doubted having a free blog on blogspot.com or wordpress.com? Do you think you have to have a web host and your own domain name to get the search engines to like you? That's not true. Granted, it helps build credibility if you're selling a product or service, but for a simple blog it's not "required."

The screenshot below shows you what you can do if you just provide relevant unique content on a simple free blog host like blogspot.com (blogger.com). Without even trying a couple pages on this blog ranked 2nd and 3rd on the 1st page of google for the search term, "mind game think positively". On 11/20/2011 that search term had about 53.5 million results. This simple blog had 2 pages on the 1st page.

Click the image for a larger view. Screenshot taken 11/20/2011.

The best part about using a free blog-hosting service is that you can try as many different types of blogs as you want without having to pay money for it. Want to try a new keyword, then create a new blog with that keyword, write unique content for it, and see what happens.

Keep it simple, provide value, and write original content, and you'll be amazed at the results you can achieve.

    Don't be a Negative Thinker

If you are a negative thinker then you may have noticed how once something goes wrong in the day everything else seems to go wrong after that.. Do you know why it feels that way? It's because you're a negative thinker. You have a negative attitude towards life, and the only person that hurts if yourself. If you continue being a negative thinker, then the world won't change for you. You have to change yourself and your perspective on life. Keep reading to find out what you can do about the Negative Thinking disease.

    The Power of Negative Thinking
    by Remez Sasson

Negative thinking appears to be more prevalent than positive thinking. It seems that with most people positive thinking requires some effort, whereas negative thinking comes easily and uninvited. This has much to do with education and the environment one has been living in.

If you have been brought up in a happy and positive atmosphere, where people value success and self-improvement, then it will be easier for you to think positively and expect success. If you have been brought up under poor or difficult situations, you will probably go on expecting difficulties and failure.

We all view everything through our predominant mental attitude. If our thoughts are positive, that is fine, but if they are negative, our lives and circumstances will probably mirror these thoughts.

If you believe that you are going to fail, you will unconsciously sabotage every opportunity to succeed. If you are afraid of meeting new people or having close relationships, you will do everything to avoid people and relationships, and then complain that you are lonely and nobody loves you.

Do you often think about difficulties, failure and disasters? Do you keep thinking about the negative news you have seen on the TV or read in the newspapers?

Do you see yourself stuck and unable to improve your life or your health? Do you frequently think that you do not deserve happiness or money, or that it is too difficult to get them? If you do, then you will close your mind, see no opportunities, and behave and react in such ways, as to repel people and opportunities.

The mind does not usually judge or examine thoughts and opinions before accepting them. If what it hears, sees and reads is always negative, it accepts this as the standard way of thinking and behavior.

The media constantly bombards the mind with a lot of information about disasters, catastrophes, wars and other unhappy events. This information sinks into the subconscious mind, and then manifests as your habitual manner of thinking. By occupying the mind with depressing and pessimistic thoughts you radiate negative energy into the surrounding world, thus creating and recreating more negativity, failures and disasters.

The mind is neutral energy. The way you think determines whether the results are positive and beneficial or negative and harmful. It is the same of energy acting in different ways.

The good news are that persistent inner work can change habits of thinking. You must be willing to put energy and time to pursue positive thinking, in order to change your mental attitude.

    A few Tips:

    - Each time you catch yourself thinking a negative thought, reject the thought, and think a positive one instead.

    - If you catch yourself visualizing failure, visualize success instead.

    - If you hear yourself uttering negative words, change to positive words instead.

    - When you say, "I cannot", say, "I can".

    - Do you repeat negative words and phrases in your mind? Change them to positive ones.

    - Open your mind to positive attitude and expect positive results.

    - Decide that from today, from this very moment, you are leaving negative thinking behind, and starting on the way toward positive thinking and behavior.

It is never too late to change your attitude and your life.

Caution: Private Label Resale Rights Products

If you sell your own information products online, then you might be familiar with certain products that state they have, "Private Label Rights." Generally, these types of licenses allow you to do almost anything you want with the content provided. This might include using pieces of it on your website, in a newsletter, or even to repackage as a new product.

However, be careful what Private Label Rights (PLR) products you actually use. You don't want to be caught in a copyright infringement issue later on when you find out the material was stolen from someone else. It won't matter if you didn't know it was stolen material. If you use it, then it's at your own risk.

How can you be certain that the person selling the PLR product is the original creator and owner of that content? Do you personally know the person? Some people that use their "names" on websites and sales pages aren't even their real names. They are just "pen" names or made-up names.

After doing some "Googling" I found a website where someone had asked this question back in 2008, and an interesting discussion occurred from it. Click here to read the forum thread on the Warrior Forum. Nothing in the thread can be used as legal advice, but some of the people ended up saying that the PLR products weren't meant to be used the way the way most people thought, but to be more of a guide for others to create their own products.

It seems like a viscious cycle doesn't it? Another site called Plagiarism Today has an article called, "The Dangers of Private Label Rights (PLR) Content," that does a better job explaining some of the issues around Private Label Products, and about who normally tries to benefit from them. Plagiarism Today also has some other very interesting articles around Plagiarism, so you might want to take a deeper look at it.

      Free Legal Advice Online

If you can't afford a lawyer, but have a legal question where do you go? If you have a friend that happens to be a lawyer that's one option. However, another good starting point is Avvo.com, which lets you ask any legal question you want once you register for free.

Lawyers who have volunteered to answer the questions on the site will review the question and provide their opinions. They always state that it's not legal advice, but it's a good starting point if you really aren't sure when something is questionable.

For example, do you think it would be legal to write and sell a full summary of a book without the author's permission? You might think that if you don't copy and of the author's word word-for-word that'd you'd be okay, but are you sure? Chances are that won't be considered fair use and would probably even be considered a derivative work. Three attorneys answered that question on the site, and you can click here to view the answers.

The point is that sometimes things you might thing would be okay to do might not be legal at all. If you can afford a lawyer for these types of questions, then that's your best bet. However, if you can't afford a lawyer, then Avvo.com or a similar website might be a good starting point. Wouldn't you rather save time knowing whether an idea is probably legal or not before investing time into, and finding out later that it's not?

        Keeping Your Mind Organized

How do you keep your mind organized? Do you use sticky notes on your fridge? Do you have a planner that you track everything in? Do you use the apps on your cell phone? If you have a great idea what do you do with it? Do you write it down somewhere so you can expand on it later?

Personally, I like to use a few different tools to try to keep my mind organized, and the amount of things on my mind to a minimum. Have you ever had a million things running through your mind at once and felt overwhelmed? I find that if I can at least type or write everything down that's running through my brain it almost puts my brain at ease.

One program that comes in handy for a variety of reasons is Microsoft's OneNote that comes with the Office Suites. You can quickly and easily create sections and sub-sections for whatever you want. You can copy things from websites into the notes, and it's like using a mix of a tabbed browser and Microsoft Word. It's great for school notes, brainstorming, and anything else you can think of.

Settings alarms on my cell phone comes in handy when I'm out and about. Appointments and other important events can easily be added to my cell phone and it beeps at me when I tell it to. I still mark on a physical calendar at home important appointments and events as another visual reminder, but the cell phone is a great audio reminder.

Many email programs and websites also let you use a calendar feature to mark important dates and times. With technology today there's no excuse for forgetting an appointment or someone's birthday. Heck, if you have your friends and family on Facebook it emails you when they are having a birthday in the current week. How much easier can keeping your mind organized get?!

Mindmapping software is also an interesting way to organize your mind. If you're brainstorming you can start with major ideas, and then work down each idea with more details. Then you can visually see how your ideas have expanded, and don't have to only rely on your memory. Why overload your brain when there are so many tools available to help keep things organized and reduce stress?

Does the Music You Listen to Give You Away

What music puts you in a good mood? What music makes you feel better? There were times in life when I was just flat out mad at the world, and the music I listened to showed it. I'd always listen to hard rock or alternative that seemed to go along with that life. Songs where I couldn't actually understand most of the words, but it just seemed to fit my mood.

The more I change my mindset to be positive and focus on the value of things in life the more my taste in music changes. Sometimes I just don't listen to music anymore since it seems to distract me when I'm trying to focus. Perhaps, I just haven't found the right music. What songs do you listen to when you need to focus and not be distracted?

When I was always negative I'd make fun of country music, the people who listened to it, and just everything about it. However, it's not so bad anymore. I can actually understand the words in all the songs that I like, and they have a good range of instruments and sounds.

I don't buy CDs anymore though. Nowadays, if I listen to music at all I just use one of the free online radio stations. At first I was excited when I found Pandora.com. You could somewhat customize what music played on your stations, but it's not as user-friendly as some other websites out there.

My current favorite free online customized radio station website is Jango.com, which makes it really easy to pick a popular "station" or create your own. You can add any artist, rate the music, share music with friends, click on links to lyrics, and much more! Plus, you don't have advertisements every few songs like with Panodora.comLast.fm is another website similar to the ones mentioned, but Jango.com has my vote.

          Waste Not Want Not

Linda Kynyon wrote an article on Associated Content about the concepts of not wasting anything. Our society today is filled with so many things that just don't last, so what can we do about it? Linda's mom used to tell her,"Use It Up, Wear It Out, Make It Do or Do Without." These days people like to just throw things away and buy them again.

How many times have you bought a new computer? How often do you replace your cell phone? Linda makes some good points to think about in her article, "Should You Use What You Have or Buy More?"

How to Quickly and Easily come up with Product Ideas

If you are looking to create a product or service to sell, and are stumped on what types of things people need, then read on. The Internet is full of people telling others what they want or need help with. Google (or your favorite search engine) allows us to find those wants and needs that people have. If you can create a solution to a problem, then people are more likely to buy that product or service, if it really helps resolve their issue.

Some example phrases you could try in Google are:
If you want to drill down on a more specific niche or idea, then you could try Googling this:
          • "How do I * car"

              • How Do I Sell My Car When I Owe More Than It's Worth?
              • How do I Determine If My Car Is a Classic?
              • How do I sell a car that I'm currently still financing?
            • You could probably fairly easily make an information product to sell online that would answer those questions above. People are already asking the questions, so with a little research you could provide an in-depth answer that they might even be willing to pay for.
You could even drill down to even more specific questions that people are asking. If you wanted to get into a very small niche, then you could include a type of car in the search term or other specifics. For example Google this:
          • "Ford * how do I fix *"
            • You will get results where people are asking how to fix some sort of Ford vehicle.
            • You could even type in a specific type of thing that might commonly need fixing and see how many hits you get that way.
You can always change keywords around, use different keywords or phrase, and just experiment. You might be surprised at how easy it is to come up with product ideas.

An airplane loses a wing while in the air

          • Now the pilots get to test how good their skills really are
          • If everybody on the plane survives, then they'll appreciate life a lot more. They might even get in contact with friends and family they haven't spoken to in a long time to rekindle relationships they let slide
          • Everybody will have a great story to tell in social situations
          • Problems people used to think were a big deal probably won't seem to bad anymore comparatively
          • What else can you think of…

          Finding value in leftover candy

Kelly Herdrich from Yahoo's Associated Content site posted a great article about increasing the value of something that would normally just be thrown away. Her article entitled, "Creative ideas for leftover Halloween candy," provides a few unique ideas for how you can use the candy you would normally throw away and turn them into something more or something useful even. Kelly does a good job of showing how something of value can have even more value, if you keep an open mind.

The article mentions using leftover candy for cooking, artwork, and even generosity. Re-give halloween candy? Read the article to get the details!
